“Unquestionably one of the most captivating new voices in contemporary dark pop” - Guitar Girl Magazine
A mesmerizing force in the realm of intimate dark pop, Eva James emerges with a sound that is both ethereal and visceral — a cinematic fusion of vulnerability and strength. Her debut album, Earth To Eva, produced by GRAMMY® winner Paula Cole, is more than a record; it’s a resurrection — and a stunning exploration of the human condition, darkly anthemic and unapologetically honest.
With lyrics that delve into mental health, chronic illness, anxiety, and the labyrinth of toxic relationships, Eva wields her songs as both confession and catharsis. Written and recorded on the brink of collapse, Earth To Eva chronicles her descent into illness and her ascent back to herself. Diagnosed with Endometriosis, Autoimmune Encephalitis, MCAS, and POTS, James faced years of decline before beginning intensive treatments that restored her health — and her fire. “I learned I can’t have music without my health, and I can’t have my health without music,” she shares. The result is a darkly radiant debut that transforms pain into power, heartbreak into healing, and survival into song.
James’s rise began with the Gloucester 400th Anniversary Singer-Songwriter Challenge (winner, 2023), followed by the Eastern Front Songwriter Grant from Club Passim (2025) — milestones that underscored her voice as one to watch even before the album’s release. Since then, her work has resonated widely: WHYTT Magazine and Authority Magazine have spotlighted her ascent; New Music Alert called Earth To Eva “catharsis pressed into sound and a compendium of powerful songs with the potential to transform adversity into art.” Ink19 Magazine praised it as “awash in memorable dark pop surfaces and Eva James’s sorceress voice,” while KALTBLUT celebrated it as “a new chapter on her own terms, sharing her story in a way that is both personal and universal.”
Rooted in moody soundscapes and poetic rawness, Earth To Eva captures the complexity of being human—a coming-of-age record and a survival narrative all at once. It’s the sound of a woman reclaiming her voice, her power, and her purpose—and it marks only the beginning for an artist unafraid to bare her soul in the dark.
